The Department of Meteorology states that rain or thundershowers may occur in many parts of the island after 1:00 PM.
The Department noted that fairly heavy showers exceeding 75mm are likely in some areas of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva, and North Western provinces, as well as in the Galle, Matara, Anuradhapura, and Mannar districts.
The Department of Meteorology urges the public to take necessary precautions to minimize potential hazards caused by lightning and temporary strong winds associated with thundershowers.
