An Airbus TK733 passenger plane bound for Istanbul from Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake made an emergency landing today (17) around 12.30 early morning shortly after taking off.
Shortly after taking off from Katunayake, the pilot realized that there was a problem with the aircraft’s wheel system, so he decided to make an emergency landing at Katunayake Airport.
Since it was only a short time after takeoff, the aircraft circled the sky above Chilaw to burn off fuel and then landed safely at Katunayake Airport.
The Airbus A330 passenger plane is reported to be carrying 202 passengers.
