India is leading the Asia Pacific in AI adoption, with 92% of employees using the technology, a new report finds, showcasing the country’s aggressive push into tech even amid worldwide job loss concerns.
New report from the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) revealing that 78% of Indian employees are now regularly using AI tools. This figure outpaces the global average of 72% and ranks as the highest in the Asia Pacific region.
The data signals a robust and proactive embrace of the technology. “India’s AI adoption rate is the highest in the region,” said Nipun Kalra, India Leader at BCG. “This signals not just interest, but also a concrete readiness for the next phase of transformation.”
The report highlights a particularly strong uptake among frontline workers in India, with 58% being asked to use AI—nearly double the regional average. Furthermore, 70% of frontline workers in Asia Pacific now use AI weekly, significantly higher than the 51% global rate.
This rapid integration comes despite ongoing global debates about job security. The study found a generally optimistic outlook in the region, with 60% of Asia Pacific employees holding a positive view of AI’s potential, and only 52% expressing worry about their future job prospects.
Looking forward, the transformation is expected to accelerate. The report notes that 73% of employees believe AI agents will play a major role in the next three to five years.
However, this rapid adoption is not without its challenges. A significant finding from the report indicates that a majority of this growth is occurring organically, with 58% of employees admitting to using AI tools without formal approval from their companies.
