A single prepaid ticket covering both transport and entry to all major tourist attractions will be introduced for visitors starting in December, Foreign Affairs and Tourism Minister Vijitha Herath announced.
The ticket can be purchased online and will come in multiple categories, including Silver, Gold, and Platinum, with pricing based on the selected package.
The ticket will allow access to cultural triangle destinations, national parks, heritage sites and other key attractions. So far this year, more than 1.8 million tourists have visited the country, with an additional 700,000 expected in November and December.
“December marks the peak tourist season, and the launch of this ticket has been timed to coincide with that period,” Minister Vijitha Herath said.
